Responsibilities
- Prepare Estate and Gift Tax Returns, primarily 706 and 709
- Prepare Fiduciary Income Tax Returns, including Forms 1041 and 1040
- Knowledge of tax analysis, fiduciary law and trust accounting
- Knowledge of probate post mortem administration related to compliance in the areas of estate transfer taxation, gift taxation, fiduciary income taxation and generation-skipping taxation
- Knowledge of probate accounting, trust accounting, plans of distribution and funding, including charitable trust valuations and payouts
- Review accounting transactions, disbursements and receipts to principal and income accounts to ensure proper treatment for judicial accountings
- Review and research any tax situation that could affect the management of accounts
- Engage in special projects related to client matters involving tax accounting and consulting
- Assist clients with other accounting related matters
- Keep abreast of tax changes and issues that could affect our clients
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or taxation
- CPA preferred
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years Trusts & Estates experience
- Strong technical knowledge and skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

One of our manufacturing clients on Chicago’s near north side is seeking a Controller to join their management team. The candidate must be a “hands on” manager with solid financial accounting knowledge and experience plus a track record of implementing and upgrading systems, improving efficiencies, managing staff and working in a team-based environment. The position reports directly to the owner and offers an excellent opportunity for growth.
Responsibilities
- Financial statement preparation and analysis
- Financial reporting
- Researching, selecting and installing a new accounting software system
- Overseeing purchasing
- Improving efficiencies
- Oversee Payroll (ADP)
- Supervision of A/R and A/P functions
- Assistance with the HR function
Qualifications
- Experience in a family owned or privately held company required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
- CPA preferred
- 8 – 10 years experience in manufacturing
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
